Progression Through the Years As time progresses we as people have become so dependent on our technology and machines that we rely on them to do the simplest things for us. You will most likely use some type of technology or machines everyday of your life. You will use a phone, computer, automated machines in town, you may even have machines at home. When dealing with others we have very little tolerance and respect. When on the phone with a business or doctor's office we rarely talk to an actual person, it is normally just a recording telling you your information. If we're not talking on the phone we are usually texting or on social media. Many times we just stay at home and shop, work, and other things online instead of actually getting out of the house and interacting with others. During these times parents are not teaching their children good skills to use with others. Machines are good at low-skill repetitive jobs and also high-speed precise jobs. This makes it easier and faster for people to get the products they need for living. There is also more time for people to spend with their families since they aren't working extensive hours in factories. The downside to this is this puts several people out of a job and the machines may not be very accurate. Things used to be made more durable than they are now. This could be because people rely on machines to do work for them because it's easier and so they don't have to deal with it. For example, L.L. Bean merchandise is hand-made in the United States. Everything they make is durable and last forever. Many other brands have their stuff shipped in from other countries and their stuff wouldn't last as long because they rely on machines more just to mass produce things. Machines are not always a bad thing. They get things done fast and efficiently. That doesn't mean we should fire all the workers and replace them with machines. There are some jobs machines are better at and then there are some jobs that humans are better at. It is good to have a balance of this because if they work together everything will be good. For example, if a machine breaks you would need a human to fix it, you couldn't just have another machine fix it. Kids and teens nowadays are lacking the basic trade skills they should know. The Romans retreated, although Romulus soon changed his mind and turned around and engaged again. Tullus on Expanding Rome Tullus defeated the Albans, razed their city of Alba Longa, and brutally punished their traitorous leader, Mettius Fufetius. He welcomed the Albans into Rome, thereby doubling the population of Rome. Tullus added Alban nobles to the Senate of Rome and built the Curia Hostilia for them, according to Livy. Background and Introduction A stoma is an artificial opening made on the side of the abdomen that is used as a permanent, or temporary outlet for feces or urine (Clinimed, n.d.). There are three different types: colostomy--for solid fecal outlet; ileostomy--for soft fecal outlet; and urostomy--as outlet for urine (Clinimed, n.d.). Indications for stoma surgery include: congenital conditions such as malformations in the anus and urethra, and diseases like inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, diverticulear disease, and ulcers. Ostomy surgery is performed by taking a portion of the large, or small intestine through the abdominal wall to provide an outlet for feces and urine (Encyclopedia of Surgery, n.d.). A collection bag is worn over the stoma and requires routine irrigation to prevent infection and other complications. This procedure is performed to aid healing by diverting fecal ma tter from an injured or diseased part of the large intestine, for temporary stomas, and to construct an alternative excretory pathway for fecal matter and urine, for permanent stomas. The estimated of the number of patients with a stoma vary across the globe. In the US, approximately 800,000 patients with a stoma were reported in 2000; with growth rate of 3% each year (Turnbull, 2008). Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia were reported to have the highest number of ostomy surgeries annually in 2009; with colostomy accounting for 55%; ileostomy 31%; and urostomy 14% (Registered Nurse’s Association of Ontario, 2009). According to Renzulli and Candinas (2007), stoma formation and delayed closure is associated with high morbidity; and complications including: stomal necrosis, stomal retraction, stomal stenosis, mucocutaneous separation and stomal prolapse. In a study conducted by Makela and Niskasaari (2006), which explored stoma care related problems experienced by stoma surgery patients in Northern Finland, it was found out that 35 patients of the 163 respondents developed stoma complications, particularly parastomal herninas (18 cases). A logical and short term thinking home less person would be silly not to commit crime – a working wage, food, a bed and toilet facilities and showers provided and the option to complete a degree are just some of the perks.So crime does indeed pay on this level.
